Therapeutic Grade Oils - No Such Grade Exists

When a company says that the essential oils they are selling are
'therapeutic grade', what kind of real meaning can be attached to that?

They are either misinformed .. or informed but chose to fib in order to sell
more oils.    It is Marketing Hype.  But .. it works to sell products to the
uninformed.  Likewise, Medicinal Grade works .. but it too is Marketing
Hype.

Chamomile Essential Oil

Just what type of chamomile do you need?

First of all, which Chamomile...there are several... and almost every
reputable aromatherapy supplier offers several different types..

There's roman chamomile...anthemis nobilis,  german chamomile, matricaria
recutitia,   Morrocan Chamomile (blue tansy) tanecetuum anuum,  "wild
chamomile"... ornemis multicaulis...  All with different uses, and not
interchangeable so do your research first.

Skin Rash

I have had a terrible skin rash that started as what looked like 4 blisters on my toe, they were sore to the touch but did not itch at all.....within 24 hrs my little toe had tiny bumps all around the blisters and went a little bit on my foot, still no itching......24hrs after that all the small bumps merged with the blister things and my toe swelled up to a massive size and has been in a lot of pain (it busted open a couple times, I think just because it could not stretch anymore, no puss or infection came out, it just tore the skin).....over the last 2 1/2 wks the rash has gone from my foot up my leg, on my arm, covered my hand and then spread to the other side only it itches like crazy.....my feet and hands have it the worst by far although the rash that was on my left foot is now gone and there is no more rash on my legs, stomach or back.....the only rash that remains is my hands, arms and my right foot with the hurtin unit toe.  The itching is almost unbearable, none of them have busted open or scratched off, I try not to scratch them though.  Here are some links to some pictures of my hands and toe.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I have been packing Benoite clay on my toe, taking a heavy sick time tea (although I feel great I could sure use the immunity boost I would say) and have just started out on a parasite cleanse today.  I did not introduce anything new to my laundry, no bed bugs, I cant say if I got bit on the toe or not but it is a possibility.  I did take some mangosteen juice for the first time a little over 3 weeks ago but stopped after 5 days of it (this was about 3 days or so before the toe blisters appeared) but that is the only new thing that has been around me.

I did have a migraine that made me feel like the flu 3 days before the blister appeared, the migraine went away on the second day of having the blisters.  Other than that I have felt 100% great, no other complaints except a massive toe and a body full of little bumps that itch like mad.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

Knee Swelling Peppermint and Lavender Oils

I totally agree with the advice to see an MD in
order to rule out blood clots. But meanwhile, here
is a harmless folk remedy for sore knees that actually
works for some people. I learned it from my all-time
favorite Home Support client who was a natural heath
fanatic.

You need some rags of pure wool, and some of either
cotton or linen. Wet the cotton or linen rags with
luke-warm water. Wrap around the knee. Wrap wool
over it. Now I can't remember if she tied plastic over
that, but the key is the damp cotton and wool.

Somehow the wool wicks the swelling away. I told this
to a young woman I met in the Hot Springs here. I saw
her again a few weeks later, and she told me it had
worked!

Worth a try and harmless, like any good folk remedy.

Sometimes, you don't have to do anything.  Cold and damp weather are my knees worst enemies.  The lemongrass eo is a good remedy. I was diagnosed with Osteoarthritis last summer, and now I know why my knees will swell and be painful for no reason.  You may want to check with an Ortheopedic to find out exactly what your issue is.

I also found these wonderful patches from a company called "Naturopatch of Vermont" last year.  They are made with olive oil, arnica, cayenne, rosemary, lemongrass and ginger essential oils.  Their phone is 800-340-9083 and website is www.naturopatch.com

Or, you could attempt your own mixture of these wonderful oils and you will see how wonderful it works to minimize the pain and the swelling.  Not just on your knees, but most parts of the body these will work on.

Good luck.

Davida

If that were me, I would hit the ER and fast! For it would be a sign,
for me now, that I had clots in my knee and leg.

I would not let them give me aspirin or anti clotting meds. They are
actually worse than the health problem. Taking vitamin E capsules for
myself only. I would take 2,000iu a day. I don't remember what the
average dose is, but I am way over average size. I would also keep the
leg elevated above the heart, as much as possible. Something else that I
do here, is to rub in creams, lotions or the like with vitamin E oils in
them or alone. I vary what I do for the rub. Even to just massaging the
knee and leg as much as possible.

One other thing to consider. Are you breathing harder or panting, with
the same amount of exercise?

Now, since I scared you, as I was, when first diagnosed with blood clots
in my leg and lungs. I'm wondering if you might have an embolism in the
knee. My cousin was just operated on for that, in his knee. Also, you
might have been stung by something. hey, ever know.

Now, I am not trying to scare you, but trying to educate you about what
might have happened. So if you have health insurance or can otherwise
get treated. You might want to hobble into the docs office or ER and get
checked out. Chances are, they will order an Ultrasound of your leg and
knee, maybe even a CT scan or MRI. Better safe than sorry. At least then
they could maybe eliminate what is wrong. I'm hoping you just twisted
the knee somehow, when you weren't aware of it. For they don't always
manifest themselves, for awhile.

Again, I only said what happened to my cousin and myself above. I am not
prescribing any course of action or meds.

Have no clue what happened - don't remember twisting my knee or injuring it in anyway. But right above my kneecap it's all swollen - looks like somebody put a balloon in it. I've been using peppermint oil and lavender to try to take out the swelling - anyone have any ideas what I could put on it to take out the swelling? It is 'hot' but not extremely hot - and its not painful - except that I can't bend it really well, so now my calf is hurting because I've used those muscles.

  any help appreciated.

Speaking of Hydrosols: Re:Making essential oils

I would LOVE heli oil but my goodness........the cost!!!!!! For that? I want to look 20 years younger by morning and NO scars .

I want a nice oil that you can cleanse the skin with as well as feed and moisturize the skin. I'm also seeing conflicting ideas on Argan. I've seen its excellent for the skin and I have a nice agan oil similar to biosilk for the hair thats nice , but one site states 'if acne is an issue , argan is not recommended as it can clog pores'.......so is this a liquid wax?

I had hoped to do a  heli/carrot seed/ and maybe two more oils that would be light and affective. But no way can I afford heli. I did get an eo but it was not what I thought....it smelled like camphor and thats not going to be so nice for a facial oil.
